About the Do Politics Centre
The Do Politics Centre is an initiative developed by the Electoral Commission. This online resource hub contains case studies, practical materials, advice and guidance for all practitioners - from electoral administrators to youth workers and teachers - aiming to increase voter awareness and registration.
The Electoral Administration Act 2006 places a duty on local electoral administrators to encourage participation of the public in the electoral process, including the promotion of voter registration. This provides an excellent opportunity for partnership work between electoral staff and community groups at a local level and we are committed to supporting practitioners in this role.
You can use the site in many different ways - selecting an audience, electoral event or activity from the 'what are you working on?' menu on the left will bring up all the case studies, how to... files and toolbox materials relevant to what you have selected. Alternatively, you can view all of our materials, case studies or how to... files by selecting the relevant index from the menu above.
You can also order hard copy materials from this site, by selecting visiting the 'order resources' page.
If you want to register to vote yourself, or apply for a postal or proxy vote, the easiest way is to visit our sister site, www.aboutmyvote.co.uk
